About the project
We鈥檙e building an early learning and childcare centre at Maffra Primary School.
Early Learning Victoria will run the centre. It will provide long day care, Three-Year-Old Kindergarten and Pre-Prep programs with space for up to102 local children each day. The centre will have outdoor play areas, a maternal and child health consulting room and a carpark. It will also have a community room for meetings and playgroup.
From 2028, Four-Year-Old Kindergarten will transition to in Wellington Shire. This will mean children will be eligible to receive 16 to 20 hours of Pre-Prep.
Building the centre at the school will help some parents avoid the double drop-off. It makes childcare and early learning accessible and convenient for working parents and carers. It can also make the transition to school easier for some children.

Funding
This project was funded as part of $3.8 billion allocated for early childhood infrastructure since the 2015鈥�16 State Budget. It supports the delivery of the Victorian Government鈥檚 Best Start, Best Life reforms.
